DJ Gates was not just a student; he was a vibrant part of the fabric that made Mesa High School so special. Known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to help others, DJ became a familiar and much-loved face during significant school events, including Turkey Time, Homecoming, and the 2013 HOSA Banquet. His participation in these events wasn’t just about being there; it was about his genuine effort to uplift his peers, contribute meaningfully, and make everyone feel included. Whether he was offering a helping hand during preparations or supporting friends through challenges, DJ’s kindness radiated, making him a family member to his classmates and teachers alike.

A memorial service to honor DJ’s life will be held on Monday, May 19th, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1266 S 32nd St, Mesa, AZ 85204. A slideshow and photos celebrating DJ’s life will be available for viewing prior to the service. His friends, family, and peers are invited to gather to remember the joy and light DJ brought into their lives.
